Kainchi Dham, located in the serene Kumaon hills of Uttarakhand, India, is a spiritual sanctuary dedicated to Neem Karoli Baba, a revered Indian saint and mystic. The ashram was established in 1962 with the construction of a small temple dedicated to Hanuman, and over time, it grew into a significant spiritual center that attracts devotees from around the world, including notable figures like Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg. The ashram complex features several temples dedicated to various deities, including Lord Hanuman, Shiva, Krishna, and the Divine Mother. Its peaceful atmosphere is enhanced by the surrounding mountains and the gentle flow of the Kainchi river nearby. The name "Kainchi" comes from the two sharp bends in the road resembling scissors ("kainchi" in Hindi). One of the ashram's distinguishing features is its large kitchen, which serves free meals (prasad) to all visitors, continuing Neem Karoli Baba's tradition of selfless service and compassion. The ashram maintains a simple lifestyle, focusing on meditation, devotional singing, and spiritual practices.
